interview with a local

I recently had a conversation with a local fellow...
We talked about his perception of Church. I assured him that he could be honest... so he was.
He believes that Church folks are judgmental and unloving!
We do not have the best PR department... or maybe we just are not loving

please tell me what you think...

it's the PR department. There are too many Christians driving around in their cars without a WWJD bumper sticker and Christian fish eating the Darwin fish.

That's the real issue.....that or maybe the fact that we want to hold people who never claimed to believe in God up to God's standards.

Well I just got my new K-Love bumper sticker in the mail and have to go put that on my car. Just trying to do my part.

and to expand a little more,
I think people want to know if we actually care about them, or if we just care about seeing them get saved.

I think people want to know that when they hurt, we will do more than just say, "I will pray for you." They want to know if we are willing to go down to the depths with them and hurt with them.

I think people will always have a hard time seeing Christians as loving, until we learn how to fail gracefully ourselves. We always say that non-Christians put Christians are under a microscope. Except that we end up looking at two different things. Christians think everyone is waiting for us to mess up so we spend out time trying to hide any of our faults. While I believe non-Christians aren't waiting for us to mess up. They know we will mess up. They are waiting to see how we respond to it.
